AI and Robotics conference, with Stephen Metcalfe MP and Chris Ezekiel

Here’s the second instalment of my notes from the AI and Robotics conference earlier this month. It summarises the talks from two excellent speakers:

  • Stephen Metcalfe, an MP heavily involved with the government’s activities relating to science and technology
  • Chris Ezekiel, Founder & CEO of Creative Virtual, a company that’s created chatbots for clients including HSBC, Verizon, Autodesk, E*TRADE, Lloyds Banking Group, Tesco and National Rail Enquiries

Zanzi sponsors the AI and Robotics conference

On Thursday 14th September I attended the AIR Events conference in London. You can download the programme PDF here.

It was fascinating: good mix of speakers, well curated, well chaired, and with decent food. I took loads of notes and am aiming to reproduce the more legible ones for you. Here are the first two, Chris Corrado Group COO and CIO at the London Stock Exchange, and Pete Trainor from BIMA (British Interactive Media Association):

12 practical tips to make Google love your website, today!

Thank you to South Oxfordshire District Council for organising yesterday’s workshop  at Milton Park. I can’t praise the team there highly enough. They promoted the workshop for us, booked the room, dealt with printing… the works.

And it went well; plenty of positive feedback as I understand it, we’re still to see the feedback forms, from around 25 delegates.

SMS Marketing: Is your greatest marketing tool hiding in your pocket?

Like many marketers, I‘m always interested in new technology and what is going to be the next ‘big thing’. And it was with this in mind that I visited the Technology for Marketing event at the end of September 2016.

One of the presentations that I listened to was not only packed with delegates, but left a lasting impression on me. It was all about SMS marketing or more simply, text message marketing.

Do you know who you’re working for?

“Your time is valuable and precious so learn how to focus on the priority tasks with some basic but effective time management techniques and tools.”

I went on a time management course run by Adhere Training recently.

To my surprise, the course was hardly about time management and more about work efficiency and creating a stress free work environment for ourselves.

This makes sense to me. Isn’t the true end goal of work to get as much done as you can, with as little stress as possible?

4 smart tips to help your business take advantage of AI

Earlier this month Zanzi’s Jayne Reddyhoff spoke at the world’s first global Social Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) conference at Oxford Brookes University, and it got us thinking… How can online businesses embrace AI and use it to their advantage?

It’s easy to feel threatened by the impending invasion of “robots” in the workplace, hijacking our jobs, and upending “traditional” human interactions expected at work. But guess what folks… robots are already here, and it’s not all that bad.

BrightonSEO, bigger and better than ever before

BrightonSEO is the conference to go to for all things digital marketing. I first went in 2010 with about 30 other people. Earlier this month I went with about 3,500 other people, that’s quite some growth!

The conference is free to attend, with various sponsorship and promotional packages. Its clever commerical model is partly why it’s been so successful. It’s also a good chance to meet the informal and sociable digital marketing community. Oh and the talks are good too.

This year there were 7 sessions running simultaneously through the day, plus a bunch of companies exhibiting their wares.

Here are my top tips from the talks I went to:

Winning the technology race: 6 simple lessons you can follow from history and business

Despite all the grim prophesies, technological advances throughout the last century haven’t led to mass redundancies, or the end of work as we know it. And there is no reason to believe that recent and imminent technological innovations will either.

But it will be your choice whether you are a winner or a loser in the race to adopt new technologies….
